Why Bunion Treatment Should Not Be Delayed
Mild Bunion
Mild Bunion
A small bump forms at the big toe joint.
The skin may only appear slightly red in colour.
At this stage, the patient may not easily notice the bunion.
Moderate Bunion
Moderate Bunion
The bump at the big toe joint becomes more noticeable.
With visible swelling, the skin becomes red in colour.
Patients may experience pain and difficulty walking or when wearing shoes.
Severe Bunion
Severe Bunion
With a prominent bump, the big toe crosses over/overlaps the 2nd toe.
Under the pressure of the big toe, the 2nd toe may also bend abnormally.
The severe bunion causes patients to constantly shift weight off the painful big toe joint.
As joints misshapen, it becomes harder and more uncomfortable to fit into shoes. Not to mention a constant throbbing sensation from the ball of the foot, the base of the big toe or from both.
Even walking may become difficult.
